In 2016, a group of alternative music enthusiasts faced a common problem: finding the music they loved scattered across countless platforms, often with incomplete catalogs and poor organization.
Mainstream streaming services excelled at pop and rock, but when it came to shoegaze deep cuts, obscure krautrock albums, or the latest darkwave releases, the experience was fragmented and frustrating. Genre playlists felt generic, recommendations missed the mark, and the rich history of alternative music was reduced to a few obvious choices.
Alt Sound Cave was created to solve this problem. We envisioned a platform built by and for people who live and breathe alternative music. A place where genre expertise isn't an algorithm's approximation but comes from curators who've spent decades exploring these sounds. A home for the music that changed our lives.
